Hello all!!!
I hope this finds everybody well…
I know I said I would get back to you right after Tamworth, but better late than never right??
I had a great week during the Tamworth festival.. We saw some great shows and had a great time playing..
This year we played as a 3 piece, Mik McCartin on drums, Joel Oakhill on bass and I played electric.. Having never played electric live especially as a 3 piece, it was a little scary… But the boys were unbelievable having such a solid rhythm section it made my job a lot easier…
The response to the Album was better than I could have wished for, we sold heaps during the festival and I have had great feedback since!!! This being my first album I couldn’t be happier with the response…

I also played the writers in the round on the Tuesday morning with two of my favourite songwriting boys Karl Broadie (www.karlbroadie.com) and Michael Bryers (www.michaelbryers.com).. I had a ball, definetly one of the highlights of my festival.. I thought I could talk but sitting in between these two boys I just sat back and listened to the entertainment.. It was a great show..

My boys the Bluezone (www.enterthebluezone.com) played some great shows… They were rockin out!!!! There last show was a screamer.. All the best guitarists in town turned up.. And it was an almighty jam to end all jams.. It was cool.. The boys got me up to kick of the Jam.. And I can tell you now, I have never had more fun playing in my life.. Being a new comer to the electric guitar scene I hope it only gets better.. I am defintely now hooked..Thanks for letting me be a part of it boys..

We saw some great shows.. We definetly didn’t miss a boogy with the Flood boys (www.theflood.com.au), it was rockin.. After running most of the way to West Leagues (We thought it would be quicker than catching a cab) we then boogied some more to The Fargone Beauties.. It was great.. My legs were sore in the morning.. I have now started the Gym incase we decide to repeat this journey next year..

Anyway that was my festival full of fun as always…

At this stage I still haven’t got the album in stores.. So if you are interested in purchasing it.. Please contact me through the website and we can get something sorted..
I am organising album launches in Sydney, Newcastle and Towwomba.. If you are near those areas stay tuned for the info, I would LOVE to see you there..

Well I feel like I have almost written a novel.. So will leave it there for now..

Stay safe!!! And be happy!!!

Cheers
Kim

      Hey Guys,
Well I hope this finds everyone well, and the cold weather hasn’t taken it’s toll on you yet!!

I thought I was going to be down and out last week, but I recovered from my little cold without having to cancel anything important… Phew…

I have lately become addicted to My Space.. If you haven’t heard about it yet you have to check it out.. Check out my new space at www.myspace.com/kimmackenzie
I love it.. I can’t get enough..

I had a great show at Blacktown RSL last Friday night in the New Talent Showcase.. I had the most fun playing I’d had in ages.. Thanks to the guys in the band for making it so much fun.. And thanks to Bob Howe for asking me to be a part of it..

Until Next Time.. Have Fun..

Cheers

      Hey Guys,

I thought it was about time I updated you all on what I’ve been up to..

I hope that everyone had a great Easter!! I spent mine in beautiful, sunny Byron Bay for the East coast blues and roots festival.. And I had the time off my life..

Even the rain and a completely flooded campsite (See Pics in Gallery) couldn’t dampen our spirits.. Though it was nice to have accommodation with a water view!!! We saw some amazing players and artists!!! Some of my favourites were the Blind Boys of Alabama, it was the first time I had seen these guys and I was just blown away.. I also really enjoyed Mia Dyson.. Now that’s one chick that can rock!!! I couldn’t begin to name everyone I liked, I would be here all day..
Overall it was a great festival!! Great music, Great friends, great food,(And Drinks), GOOD TIMES!!!

Also so for another bit of news…It’s looking good for the album at the moment.. Though it’s a long time coming we are heading back to the studio real soon to finish it off… I can’t wait!!!!

Until Next Time.. Have Fun..

Cheers
Kim

Kim MacKenzie

She’s young, and original. Australia’s own Kim MacKenzie, who in a few short months will release her much anticipated debut album. Nothing new in that. Lots of people make albums, but for the Queensland-born diva, now residing on the NSW Central Coast, this disc is the culmination of years of living, dreaming, performing and learning from the best.

Born with a love of music, Kim has been fortunate to mix in some influential musical circles. A chance meeting a few years back with Kevin Bennett, front man for much respected Sydney-based roots band The Flood, was a real turning point for the young writer and performer. Hearing some of Kim’s originals, Kevin offered to produce her debut CD, and the results of that are due to hit the music store shelves and radio waves by mid 2006.

Categorizing Kim’s music is not so easy, but have a listen and you’ll find it’s very easy on the ears. And why wouldn’t it be, with influences as varied as Bonnie Raitt, Bob Dylan, Patty Griffin, and of course, her producer, Kevin Bennett, who is regarded by many as Australia’s quintessential singer/songwriter and musician.

With energy to burn and an impressive track record to date, which includes support shows for expat Aussie Jedd Hughes and the mighty Flood, this is one young lady on a mission. A gifted guitarist and vocalist, an evening at a Kim MacKenzie show is something you really do have to experience for yourself – which could well wind up with one of Kim’s favoured closers, Bob Dylan’s All Along The Watchtower.

Not your average country fare, but she’s not your average country singer. This is a performer who can leap musical boundaries with ease. Look out world. Kim MacKenzie has arrived.
